. Proa is a youth hostel located in the historical and cultural center of Recife. With this project, I wanted to create a dialogue between architectures from different eras, by using a parasite language.
. The relationship between different languages results in a new organism, which brings a new formal structure, and, mainly, a new function.
. The proposal intends to enhance the preexisting building, by making it an indispensable element of the final design.
. The structural decisions took the preexisting building into consideration. Next to the old structures, a new metallic structure was chosen to minimize the interference to the original walls.
. The contemporary elements attached are made of concrete. This material helps to keep the additions narrow while shaping the stand and the swimming pool. It also allows for fluidity between the city and the building by leaving the corner of the ground floor free.
. The proposal shows an alternative solution to the lack of accommodations in the touristic center.

. The design was developed with a program divided into sectors:
[01] social sector . composed of access, circulation, and leisure areas
[02] private sector . to be used only by guests
[03] service sector . with restrict access, only to staff
[04] bar . that can be used by the community

. Proa é um albergue da juventude localizado na área histórica e cultural do centro do Recife.
. A relação entre diferentes linguagens arquitetônicas resultou em um novo organismo, que traz uma nova estrutura formal e uma nova função.
. A proposta pretende valorizar a edificação pré-existente, fazendo dela indispensável ao design final.
. A estrutura leva em consideração a casca existente. Próximo as paredes antigas eu optei pela estrutura metálica, buscando minimizar e preservar a parte antiga.
. O elemento contemporâneo anexado é estruturado em concreto. Esse material garante a estreita quina, enquanto modela a arquibancada e a piscina. Também permite liberar a quina no pavimento térreo, ampliando a vista para a Torre Malakoff.
. A proposta mostra uma alternativa para solucionar a falta de hospedagens no centro turístico.

. A proposta foi desenvolvida em quatro setores:
[01] setor social . composto pelo acesso, circulações e áreas de lazer
[02] setor privativo . para ser usado exclusivamente pelos hóspedes
[03] setor de serviços . com acesso restrito apenas á funcionários
[04] bar . de acesso público aos visitantes
