ABOUT
My name is Manoela, I am an architect born in Recife, Pernambuco, graduated in 2014 from the Federal University of Pernambuco. My masters in Pernambucan architecture are Wandenkolk Tinoco, Carlos Fernando Pontual, and Monica Raposo, with whom I had the honor of learning and working.
After three years of professional practice in Brazil, I moved to Hungary in 2017, where I pursued my Master’s degree in Architectural Science, awarded with the Marcel Breuer Prize and by the Hungarian Chamber of Architects in 2019. Since then, I have been expanding my architectural practice internationally, with projects carried out in Hungary, Canada, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and more.
This multicultural journey has given me a broad perspective on the impact of architecture in different social and climatic contexts. The Pernambucan education, rich in solutions for tropical climates, taught me to prioritize thermal comfort, natural lighting, and the efficient use of materials. In Europe, however, I encountered different methods and a climate marked by variations in temperature across the four well-defined seasons (so unfamiliar to my Pernambucan experience), which led me to adapt my style and broaden my professional approach.
After selling an illustration through Urban Arts, I began exploring other ways of expressing my creativity alongside architecture, and so Studio Tonta was born.
CASA is my first artistic collection, a fusion of my cultural roots and my admiration for the vernacular architecture of the Brazilian Northeast. Handwoven beadwork is the main technique of this collection, a way to revive my childhood hobby of bringing shapes to life through the intricate use of beads.

SOBRE
Meu nome é Manoela, sou arquiteta nascida em Recife, Pernambuco, formada em 2014 pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Meus mestres na arquitetura Pernambucana são Wandenkolk Tinoco, Carlos Fernando Pontual e Monica Raposo, com quem tive a honra de aprender e trabalhar.
Após três anos de atuação profissional no Brasil, mudei-me para a Hungria em 2017, onde desenvolvi meu mestrado em Ciência da Arquitetura, premiado com o Prêmio Marcel Breuer e, também, pela Câmara Húngara de Arquitetos no ano de 2019. Desde então, tenho expandido minha prática arquitetônica internacionalmente, com projetos realizados na Hungria, Canadá, Vietnam, Uzbequistão e mais.
Essa trajetória multicultural me proporcionou uma perspectiva ampla sobre o impacto da arquitetura em diferentes contextos sociais e climáticos. A formação pernambucana, rica em soluções para climas tropicais, ensinou-me a priorizar conforto térmico, iluminação natural e o uso eficiente dos materiais. Já na Europa, deparei-me com métodos distintos e com um clima marcado por variações de temperatura entre as quatro estações bem definidas (tão estranhas à minha vivência cajueirense), o que me levou a adaptar meu estilo e ampliar minha abordagem profissional.
Após vender uma ilustração pela Urban Arts, comecei a explorar outras formas de expressar minha criatividade paralelamente à arquitetura e assim nasceu o Studio Tonta.
CASA é minha primeira coleção artística, uma fusão entre minhas raízes culturais e minha admiração pela arquitetura vernacular do Nordeste brasileiro. A arte com miçangas trançadas à mão é a técnica principal dessa coleção, uma forma de reviver meu passatempo de infância, dando vida a formas através do uso intricado das miçangas.
